A trailer posted to its Nexus Mods page shows just how big of a difference ALOV can make compared to vanilla Mass Effect Legendary Edition. "ALOV is an exhaustive and comprehensive 4K 60fps video overhaul project powered by AI and augmented with faithful in-game remakes, error corrections, and other misc improvements," reads the mod description.

The "A Lot Of Videos" (ALOV) mod from Audemus and the ALOV Team uses those powerful AIs to upscale every pre-rendered cutscene to 4K, and the results are unquestionably gorgeous. Not too long ago this would have been an impossible fix for modders, but today we live in the age of available and powerful AI. In most cases, that means HD graphics, which can make videos far less visually appealing than the gameplay itself. With this, maybe ME2 truly is the perfect game. Some of you might have noticed that while Mass Effect Legendary Edition gameplay is capable of rendering in 4K (provided you've got either a beefy enough computer or a next-gen console), some of the cutscenes still seem to be rendered at their classic resolutions. And because fashion is everything, there's also a mod that lets Shepard swap out their armour for casual clothes (Slay enemies in a dress! Or, you know, wander around civilian areas in much more appropriate outfits).Īs a final mention, a modder has made it so you can skip the hacking minigames in the Mass Effect 2 remaster now as well. The Legendary Edition has a few more good-looking mods out at the moment, like this one that lets FemShep wear Liara's armour (Liara's coat? Pajamas? I'm not totally convinced it's actually armour) in ME2. He looks so tall on his rocky throne, I'm very proud of him.

I'm a big fan of that second image with Wrex in it. If you want to try it out, you'll need to download First Person Mode as well as the ME3Tweaks Mod Manager, which organises and supports mods for both the old and remastered Mass Effect trilogies. Still, judging from the screenshots on Jade's mod page, it looks like first-person changes the whole vibe of those civilian areas, which I'm very into. Unfortunately, if you whip out your gun or start conversations the camera will revert back to how BioWare intended.
